Cocoa, Forests and Diversity Agreement in Peru to drive sustainable cocoa production for European markets

The agreement seeks to position and reinforce Peru's differentiation as an exporter of quality cocoa, with verified origin attributes and deforestation-free by 2025. Rikolto is joining 19 organisations from the cocoa value chain in the country to promote this important initiative, within the framework of the Coalition for Sustainable Production.

Like thousands of vegetables farmers in Honduras. Felix saw every year how excessive rain, pest and diseases of up to 70 percent of his crops. By using hydroponics models, he expects not only to stop his loss but also increase their production.

Some people may think that radio is on its way of extinction. But, for rural farmers, in many countries of Africa, it´s the other way around. Another misconception is that radio is a “one-way channel of communication”, but Farm Radio International, is proving that interaction with farmers is providing solutions to many agricultural problems, empowering women and giving voice to the less favored people. For this reason, The Sustainable Food Lab chose this experience to be visited during its 2016 Annual Leadership Summit Learning Journey, that was held in Tanzania. This, and many other experiences helped to enrich discussions on sustainable agriculture and sustainable sourcing.
